The iPhone App
Downloading the App
The Courtyard iPhone app is a free download from the App Store. You can also find it by searching for "courtyard" in the App Store app on your phone.
Connecting to Your Directory
When you first launch the Courtyard iPhone app, you will be taken to a screen where you can connect to your directory. Enter the email address and password you use to log into your online directory. In the subdomain field, enter the first part of your directory URL (e.g. if your directory is at mychurch.courtyardapp.com, enter "mychurch" in this field).
When you are done, tap Save. You should see the name of your church appear as the first item in the list. (The iPhone app has the ability to support multiple directories, if you ever need them.) Tap on your directory to view it's contents. You should now see all the families in your directory.
Using the iPhone App
Once you have your directory set up on your phone, all you have to do is tap on a family to view their details. The family list screen is very similar to the built-in contacts application. You can jump in the list by tapping a letter on the right, and you can search using the search box at the top of the list.
The directory data will be automatically updated periodically. If you do need to manually update it, you can use the refresh buton in the top right corner. Your directory will be available on your phone, even when you do not have a data connection.
From the family details screen, you can use the following shortcuts.
- Tap the address to open it in the Maps app.
- Tap any phone number to call it.
- Tap any email address to open the Mail app.

Do you have an app for the Droid?
No. We hope to release one in the future.
Do you have an app for the iPad?
No. The iPhone app will run on the iPad. We do not have any plans for a "high definition" iPad app at this time.
